5 drinks every bartender should know

While a lot of bar tending revolves around pouring beer or wine, bartenders are responsible for knowing how to make lots and lots of different mixed drinks. There are plenty of unique drinks out there, but here are a few of the classics that every bartender should keep in their mixed drink arsenal.

cosmopolitan_martini 1) COSMOPOLITAN (cosmo)

  • 1oz vodka
  • ½ oz triple sec
  • ½ oz lime juice
  • ½ oz cranberry juice

The Cosmo is an extremely popular drink with the ladies. It is truly an American classic that every bartender should master. This cocktail was recently brought back into the limelight by the hit HBO Television Series “Sex & the City”.

Ever since, the Cosmo has been one of the hottest drinks around.

ElectricScrewdriver_L1 2) SCREWDRIVER

  • 1 oz vodka
  • ½ cup orange juice

While we’re not talking about tools here, this vodka & OJ can certainly pack a punch. The Screwdriver has been around since the early 1900’s, but didn’t get its moniker until around 1949 when workers began stirring the vodka into their O.J. cans with their actual screwdriver tools. Even though this drink is simple compared to others on our list, it has a pleasing & sophisticated taste.
